9 to 5.

"Workin' 9 to 5, just tryin' to make a livin'..." I'm not surprised that I haven't blogged in the past week. It wasn't for lack of want I assure you but rather, a lack of energy and time after what turned out to be my busiest and stressful week in my job to date. Or at least it felt like it. Between RA interviews, mentor interviews for living learning communities, scheduling and notifying candidates of their interviews at the upcoming professional conference, a half a dozen conduct cases, and three on campus interviews for an open leadership position within the department not to mention a dozen other 1:1s with student leaders and professionals across campus, this past week was JAM PACKED with not a moment to breathe, google chat, or catch up on facebook. Whoa is me, right?

But I did make time this past week for two fun social outings. The first being Monday night and the chance to catch up with a Rhodent over a couple Guinnesses at an irish pub in the CWE. She's wrapping up her dissertation in Irish literature and it was fun to reconnect. I probably haven't seen her since my college graduation? Has it been that long? It's possible...

The second social outing came the following night as I accompanied a coworker, her mother and mother-in-law to the Fox to see the Dolly Parton musical, 9 to 5. If you remember, a couple of my friends back in the summer when I first got here got season tickets to the Fox for the 2010-2011 shows. I had told them I wanted in but after some miscommunication, I was left out and was SO BUMMED that I wouldn't be taking advantage of Broadway being NEXT DOOR to the university. Like really bummed. I wasn't as upset about missing Shrek and South Pacific in the fall but I was disappointed about not seeing Jersey Boys, Next to Normal, and Billy Elliott in the spring. My parents agreed to visit for Easter so I snagged tickets for us to all see Next to Normal and hoped maybe I'd be able to convince a friend or two to catch another show this year. Well, then my friend who did have season tickets got a job out of town and gave me her tickets, FOR FREE! How lucky am I? So I got to see 9 to 5 and get to see both Jersey Boys and Billy Elliott for free later this year! EPIC.

I enjoyed the show Tuesday night and loved being back in a theatre with Broadway. The last show I saw was over the summer with my mom before I moved up to St. Louis (Avenue Q). The show definitely does not rank in my list of favorites but it was entertaining with some good music and a pretty stellar performance by Diana DeGarmo (Idol season 3 runner-up) and Dee Hoty. All in all, a great night!

More about this weekend tomorrow!

Cheers.
