the big 29.

It's not that I wasn't aware my birthday was approaching at the end of the month. It's just that with the craziness of #Opening2011 and serving on the Welcome Week committee, there wasn't much free time to think about turning the big 29 or to plan a night out on the town. Plus, it didn't help that almost all of my friends here in the city work at the university and we've all been on the same overworked and exhausted schedule.

So how did the day turn out? Quite well! It all started at midnight when my student staff surprised me with a card and homemade t-shirts. The front said, "Team Bromig" and the back said, "Y'all stupid!" They were incredibly proud of their work (as was I) and it was touching to have them care enough to surprise me and start the birthday off with a bang. (Note: "Y'all stupid!" became our motto throughout Opening when I said it randomly one night and they all loved it and decided to start saying it to one another. Not the most uplifting comment but a fun one nonetheless).

Unfortunately, I had to put in some hours working Saturday attending a Welcome Week event but found time before and after that to skype with Mom, Dad, my grandparents, and my aunt and uncle all in NOLA for my brother's engagement party, hit the gym, take a glorious nap, and catch up with some great friends who called throughout the day. Saturday night, I went to Square One Brewery for dinner and drinks with a solid crew of folks. They all gave me a card and we had a wonderful evening of good food, drinks, and laughs.

Happy to have so many incredible people out there think of me on my special day!

Cheers.
