Weekend Rundown
I approached this weekend cautiously viewing it as "the calm before the storm." That "storm" being the arrival of our student staff en masse and the beginning of two weeks of 14-hour days of training, preparing, and teambuilding before the halls open and we're back in business. Knowing my social life would take a relatively stable backseat for the next few weeks, I wanted to utilize this weekend to just relax and be still.
After an incredibly long day at work Friday preparing for student staff training, I was lucky to be invited out to dinner with my buddy and his parents who were in town. His folks are from Milwaukee and are so good-spirited and fun to be around. You know those parents. The ones who wear their age with grace, are living life to the fullest, and happy as can be. I want to be one of those said parents! Anyway, we went down to the Loop for pizza and beer at Cicero's, some window shopping, and frozen yogurt at FroYo. We were back by 9:30p which suited me just fine as I had gotten up at 6 that morning and fell asleep by 11.
Saturday I dragged myself into the office and spent about 3 hours knocking out some work before hitting the gym and the pool. Sadly, an afternoon shower (while refreshing) forced me to leave the pool after only being there for about 30-45 minutes. But I took advantage of tax free weekend to do some shopping and last night went out to eat and to see the new Planet of the Apes film with a coworker. I don't recommend seeing it in theaters. Definitely a rental.
This morning, I'm enjyoing a homemade egg and cheese scrambler with Italian sausage, biscuits and coffee. We start training at 3:30pm today so that leaves me a little less than 6 hours to bake some brownies for tonight, hit the gym, finish up some work, and hopefully dye my hair (the grey is coming in strong!)
Hope you had a great weekend!
Cheers.
