Labor Day Weekend
I was initially apprehensive about the long weekend. Yes, I was beyond excited to have an extra day off work to rest but no, I was not looking forward to being on call and not really having many plans. Plus, a few of my weekend "go to" friends were heading out of town so I was staring a long weekend with no plans in the face. Yet the weekend has turned out quite nice thus far.
Friday night I cooked dinner with a friend and watched a movie. The menu: homemade guacamole, turkey burkers (topped with said guacamole), green beans cooked in garlic, and sauteed/baked summer squash and zucchini. YUM. It was a perfect, laid back evening. Sadly, I spent most of the night answering the on the call phone and responding to various "disasters" on campus so I didn't get much sleep.
I napped most of Saturday morning before heading out to the Cardinals game that afternoon with several of my gay coworkers for OUT day at the ballpark. A couple quick rain showers helped drop the temperatures from steamy and disgusting to manageable and the Cardinals won! Saturday night I grabbed some Chinese food and settled in to root for the UGA Dawgs and the LSU Tigers. The Dawgs lost but the Tigers won! GEAUX TIGERS.
A brunch at Rooster (love the B.E.L.T.) kicked off the morning with friends along with a high of 79 (yes 79 when yesterday was 97) before an impromptu trip to the outlet malls. I was stoked to find the Banana Republic factory store was having a 40% OFF EVERYTHING sale. SCORE. Walked out with two pairs of chinos, a new pair of jeans, and a sweater for $100. I hit the gym early this evening and am now resting on the couch with a glass of vino and some tv.
All in all, a great weekend! I couldn't be more thankful to have tomorrow off so I can go to the grocery, hit the gym, and hopefully do some reading. I just started The Perks of being a Wallflower. Hope you had a great weekend!
Cheers.
