Bachelor Party: Biloxi Edition
I spent the weekend down in NOLA (am actually still here through tomorrow AM) for my brother's bachelor party. As the best man, I felt a lot of pressure to make sure my brother enjoyed himself and had memories to last a lifetime. Though I was nervous as nobody's business and was fretting because his friends weren't emailing me back and making plans, it turned out to be one hell of a night! I can guarantee he had a great time and has memories to last forever. Sadly, those memories aren't blog friendly.
One of his buddies remarked last night that "what happens in Biloxi stays in Biloxi" to which another replied, "that's not a saying." So in an effort to honor both, here's a recap of the weekend without too many details...
I got into town late Friday night and had time to basically tell my brother and parents hello before we all crashed. We got up Saturday and darted off to Perlis uptown for the tux fitting before meeting up with two of his buddies and hitting the road for Biloxi. We checked into our swank room in the Hampton Inn close to 1:30pm after a stop at DQ and a little Dumb and Dumber in the car with some "hitchhikers" (apparently beers on the road).
We walked over to meet the rest of the bachelor party (11 in total) at the Beau Rivage and spent the afternoon lounging at their pool, watching the LSU game, and drinking. I was worried we'd be too exhausted from several hours in the sun and we didn't give ourselves much time for a power nap as we ran back to the hotel to shower, dress, and return to the Beau. I can't really say what happened next other than a $100 bottle of Knob Creek delivered to the room, plenty of beer, some good life choices, and some bad life choices. We had a reservation at Ruth's Chris steakhouse for 9pm so we headed there for about 8:30pm and were seated. A REALLY nice dinner was great in theory but in practice after hours of day and early evening drinking, it wasn't so much. This is another one of those times when it's best to leave what happened in Biloxi.
Post dinner, we hit the floors gambling at both Hard Rock and the Beau. Not the gambling type, I did more cheering from the sidelines. Some of my brothers' friends walked home with money in their pockets while others lost it all on the floor. My brother walked away about a buck 50 richer. Not too shabby! I left the casinos earlier than everyone else and enjoyed a limo (party of 1) cab ride back to the hotel. A limo cab. Interesting...
We got up this morning, took advantage of the continental breakfast in the hotel and hit the road home! A little bit of Hook and a lot of bit of cracking up laughing telling stories from the night before filled the car the entire way home. All in all, a very successful bachelor party weekend. It was great to get to know so many of the groomsmen better and show my brother a good time.
Looking forward to the wedding next month! Cheers.
