Weekend Rundown

The first weekend in October proved to be a good one! I took Friday off as friends were coming in town for a wedding and I figured there's no better excuse than friends in town to take a day off work. Since the wedding we went to was Friday night, it was great to have the day off and not feel rushed to get home from work, get ready, and go.

The wedding, celebrating an old coworker and her husband who now live in Memphis, was beautiful! The couple actually did a private ceremony right before the reception and invited friends and family to join them for a quaint reception of dinner, drinks, and dancing. The reception was in Forest Park at the golf club and they hired an Emcee to lead us through the evening. The couple and wedding party were introduced at the beginning and a few individuals delivered speeches before dinner. I had never attended a reception like this before but it was a lot of fun, beautiful, and so great to celebrate with so many people (past and present) from work.

Since the weather was UNREAL on Saturday, I spent most of the day outdoors. A friend and I went to Everest Cafe in the Grove for lunch (if you love Korean and Vietnamese food, YUM!) before I walked through the Midtown Alley Fest/Open Air Market and then met up with some folks to head down to Soulard to walk around. We ended up scoring a patio table at Chava's for an early afternoon happy hour and got to meet up and catch up with an old friend from college who was in town for a different wedding.

Last night, a small group of us went to see the new Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordon Levitt film, 50/50 (My score: A-) and grabbed a late dinner at Scottish Arms to celebrate a friend's birthday. Even though the movie had its somber moments (and may or may not have produced a tear or tw0), it's incredibly witty, well-written and made me laugh a lot! And dinner and drinks at Scottish Arms? You can't go wrong!

All in all, another great weekend! Planning to spend the afternoon researching some plane tickets to Thailand (post coming once it's DONE), planning the bachelor party, hitting the gym and possibly taking a ride through Forest Park (if I can make it happen before mass)! Busy day!

Cheers.
