Thailand.

I had been promising telling my sister ever since she moved to Australia a few years back that I was going to come visit. AUSTRALIA! How freaking amazing is that!? She kept begging and I kept saying, soon. Well, soon-ish. For a trip like that, I knew I would need circa 10-14 days and some disposable income and in grad school and soon after, I had neither. So this past summer, I was stoked to write her and say I finally had the vacation time saved up and the cash and I wanted to come visit in January or February.

Danger Will Robinson. She called me and said while she would LOVE for me to visit, she had decided to leave Australia and would be traveling Asia in the spring before returning to the states. Her proposition, travel Asia with her. I told her I had to think about it as Asia had not been on my list of places to see (does anyone actually have one of these proverbial lists!?). However, the more I thought about it, the more I began to say WHY THE HELL NOT!? Sure, I'd never really thought about going to Thailand but then again, why wouldn't I?

So after several weeks of talking it over and looking into it, I finally pulled the trigger this past week and purchased my ticket to Bangkok for two weeks in January! I'll meet my sister there and we'll spend some time in Bangkok before darting off to Chiang Mai and Chiang Pai and who knows where else! We plan to hit up beaches, ride elephants, trek, do some cooking, and see the world!

I couldn't be more excited about this trip and look forward over the next couple months to planning it in more detail with my sister!

Cheers.
