New Year...

Happy New Year! Hard to believe we're suddenly in 2012. The year I turn 30! The year the Mayans claim the world will end (December 21. It's coming...). The year they made into an unrealistic, far-fetched, and somewhat not good movie starring John Cusack. 2012: a leap year. An election year. A year for new beginnings, new adventures, new opportunities, new dreams, and most likely new tragedies, new regrets, and new disappointments. But a new year nonetheless.

I rang in the new year with friends last night in St. Louis and loved being able to get together with so many new faces who in the last year have become my social and support network here in the city. I hosted two friends for dinner and made some delicious pizzas if I do say so myself courtesy of my good friends at Trader Joe's who provided all the ingredients.

Pizza 1: White Pizza
- whole wheat crust
- olive oil base
- mozzarella cheese
- sun-dried tomatoes
- spinach leaves
- goat cheese

Pizza 2: Traditional Pizza
- whole wheat crust
- red sauce
- mozzarella cheese
- italian sausage
- roasted red pepper

Post dinner, we headed over to U-city to a friend's house for fireworks and fun. A champagne toast at midnight in the street made for a great way to ring in the new year! I tackled this first day in the new year doing the things I love: making a delicious breakfast, exercising, shopping, going to Mass, and later this evening, a movie (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

Happy New Year to you and yours! May it be the best one yet.

Cheers.
