Quick Reflections from Thailand

Don't worry blog fellows, I am taking a TON of photos and look forward to uploading them ad nauseam upon my return to the states. We are departing from our hostel, Lub*d in Bangkok in a couple hours and since we are catching a midnight train bus (it is cheaper) to Georgia Lampang, not even sure when we will next have internet. I told myself I was going to "unplug" for the duration of my adventure but I quickly re-thought that after I traveled 30+ hours halfway around the globe, felt WAY TOO disconnected from my "real life" and needed some connections. Plus, my sister is tramping around Bangkok this morning visiting the Embassy to obtain a visa to return to Vietnam and buying our bus tickets for our departure this evening at 8:00pm. So I have some time to kill.

Even though my time in Bangkok has been very short (today marks day 2), I am RET to go. My senses have been on overdrive here in the city taking in the various sights, sounds, and smells I have been inundated with. On first reflection, I am tempted to say that I do not like Bangkok but not knowing what else is in store and with nothing to compare it to, I am going to hold off and wait for any final evaluations until I return home.

Do not know what's on tap for the day outside of catching the 8pm bus this evening. For the "J" in me, I am amazed I'm not fretting over a lack of plans. In fact, I am pretty certain we don't even know where we will next lay our heads (other than the bus). But I am looking forward to seeing what's in store. When I woke this morning, I was still shocked to think that I am on vacation for two entire weeks. It's insane. Seems like forever. And yet I still find myself retaining a bit of stress from before I left. Hoping it passes as quickly as the sweat from this muggy and hot place. And here it is winter in Bangkok with a high of 90. WHAT!?!?!

Cheers.
