A NOLA Thanksgiving

Fingers crossed but pending no mishaps with my fourth and final flight of the thanksgiving holiday, it's been a smooth and painless travel adventure. I say this as I sip on a latte listening to a piano player fill the air(port) with Christmas tunes. Not a bad way to spend a 90-minute layover in one of America's busiest airports, Atlanta.

The trip home to NOLA was exactly what I hoped it would be: delicious food, relaxed environment, plenty of time for catching up on sleep and resting, and quality bonding time with the family. An added bonus of having my cousin, Chris, around for a couple days as well. Surprisingly (or perhaps not so), I didn't leave the house that much aside from a couple runs through the neighborhood and park, a quick trip to the boat club, and a viewing of Wreck It Ralph (score: A). I filled my time watching movies and football at home and gorging on Thanksgiving leftovers and oysters. I'd been looking forward to feasting on oysters and between having them charbroiled on Thanksgiving Day, and twice on Friday: fried for poboys for lunch and tossed in BBQ sauce with blue cheese for an appetizer (my definite favorite), I lucked out. Thank The Lord my family likes to cook (and are quite good at it too!)

Setting the table!

Oysters in all their rawness glory.

Brother working his magic on the grill.

Mmmm good.

The feast.

And though my time in the Big Easy was short, I'll return in just 4 weeks for the Christmas vacation. Until then, I'm looking forward to keeping myself busy with holiday parties, the fall semester winding down, and enjoying the start of the Christmas season by decorating my own place and shopping for gifts.
