Give Thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving, or as I sometimes like to say, Happy Turkey Day, Pilgrim Day, or Gobble Gobble Day. No matter what you call it, it does not change the fact that today is about stuffing your face with the richest foods on earth, spending time with loved ones, and giving thanks. Give Thanks.

I have been home in NOLA less than 24 hours and I have already found myself reflecting a lot on everything I have to be thankful for: a place I can always call home here at 109 hollywood, parents who have loved me unconditionally since the day I was born and who have the means to fund my quick trip home, a brother I have grown closer to the older we get who I can go to a bar with and enjoy 4 pints of Abita amber while discussing every topic under the sun and not get bored, my health that allows me to go for a 3.5 mile run before the festivities begin, gorgeous (albeit a bit warm) weather, and extended family who will be soon be filling our house for an afternoon and evening of delicious food and spirits a plenty. And of course, though she isn't here, I give thanks for my sister who will be returning to the states in just a few short weeks! I have not seen her since January and I look forward to spending time with her over Christmas.

Aside from my trip home, I also give thanks today for friends, both old and new, who fill my heart with joy, challenge and support me, stretch and push me, and make every adventure worth it. I give thanks for my job and career where I am blessed to work every day with amazing students who inspire me (and drive me nuts!). I give thanks for my education and for the many opportunities it has provided me and individuals it has introduced me to. I am indeed blessed.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Give thanks. Cheers.
