Tickle.
It started with a tickle on Sunday. Just a slight tickle in the back of my throat. I should have known it was coming. Heck, I had even been taking Zicam (more like Walcam, the knock off Walgreens version) as a precaution off and on for a few days. And when I got off the plane Saturday evening to a blast of cold air, I FOR SURE should have known the change in temperature would bring its arrival. But I powered through. On Sunday when I sat by a friend in church and then had brunch with her and she told me she had been under the weather for a few days, I accepted my fate. It's coming. So it was no surprise when I woke up yesterday morning with my throat thick and heavy, my nose a bit stuffed, and my head a tad cloudy and all I could say was, "I knew it. You're here."
And in the last 24 hours, I've filled my body with juices, vitamins, green tea, Walcam tablets, and even a work out reading that cardio stimulates your immune system (courtesy of Men's Health). About the only thing I didn't do yesterday aside from take real drugs is down some spoonfuls of honey (which I also recently read in Men's Health is better for you at coating your throat than anything else). I even logged 9 hours of sleep last night figuring that sleeping more was better than dragging my throat inflamed, sluggish self to the gym this morning to ride the bike. Plus, who has a desire to bike and work out your abs when you feel like horse manure? Not me.
Luckily (or unluckily depending on how much you enjoy your job or not), I'm not down and out enough to need a sick day. Just another day of my home remedies. Hopefully I'll kick this bugger to the curb soon and get back on with my normal day to day. I'm certain the weather won't be helping considering it was 45 yesterday but we are expected to be back to 70 by this weekend. Get it together weather!
Hope you're staying healthy! If you have any home remedies of your own that work, send them my way!
Cheers.
