Life Update
Yikes. So it's been a hot minute, or two...Not sure why I haven't found the time to blog in the past 10 days. An update is definitely due...
Last weekend I headed back home for the wedding of a family friend and to spend some much needed QT with my sister. We spent St. Patrick's Day night in the quarter at Pat O's with the rehearsal dinner crowd and one of my sister's friends from college who also happened to be in town. I relished a fried oyster po-boy sandwich on Friday with my parents, and attended a beautiful wedding Friday night. The scene: the cathedral in the quarter followed by a reception next door at the cabildo. It was my first military wedding as the bride and groom met during their time together in the Naval Academy and I'm almost certain men in uniform look better than men in tuxes any day of the week. The reception was out of this world with three different levels, three different bands, food ranging from a sushi bar to fish tacos, and a cast of thousands. But it was great to celebrate with the family and hit up the dance floor with my brother, sister, and soon to be sister-in-law. A family brunch on Saturday at Dante's kitchen, shopping at Canal and a run with my sister through the park rounded out our time together until my brother's wedding in November. I'm still waiting for her to send pictures from the weekend...
Aside from the trip home, the past week has been busy but relatively uneventful. A revolving door of candidates visiting campus for our open positions. Students getting antsy about housing sign up for next year and the beginning of the end of the semester. Fluctuating temperatures ranging from 70s to SNOW and sun to gloom.
Last night a friend and I went to the Schlafly Brew House for their annual Oyster and Stout Festival. While she's not an oyster fan, she was a trooper to come with me. I sampled a dozen oysters from both coasts (A-MAZING) and enjoyed an oatmeal and oatmeal/coffee stout. We made some new friends including a man from Dublin and then got to celebrate the UK win over OSU. All in all, a great night!
Looks to be a calm weekend with some miscellaneous things on tap: Some shopping, a movie, working out, being on call, hitting the grocery, cooking, a trip to the library for new reading material and some much needed cleaning.
CHEERS.
