Kudos to me!

Last February I did a presentation for a leadership conference that compared being a leader to being a chef. It was pretty darn creative if I do say so myself and I got good reviews after both sessions I led. I walked away from the conference thinking it went pretty well but thought I could have done just a tad bit more to give it the extra something it needed.

So imagine my surprise when yesterday out of the blue, I was contacted by a woman who works at an institution near UGA where I gave the presentation last year. She apparently attended one of the two sessions and LOVED. IT. She's putting on her own leadership conference and wondered if I would be willing to come to campus and do the presentation. When I let her know I was no longer at UGA and that not only was I not in Georgia, but that I was in a different part of the country, her heart sank. I offered to send her the presentation so she could do it for the students and she said it just wouldn't be the same without me. I almost told her if she wanted to pay my way, I'd fly down there and do it but well, that could carry a hefty fee and so I didn't go down that road and neither did she.

So kudos to me! I don't normally pat myself on the back on my own blog but it lifted me up and made me feel great about the work that I do knowing someone out there really enjoyed something I did and it left a mark since it's been about 13 months since that presentation.

Cheers.

I'd like if you gave me that presentation next time I see you.
