TPE prep.
I didn't get to celebrate Mardi Gras this year so allow me to take a moment and say, Happy Mardi Gras y'all! Ok, that's done now. Too much going on! I was contemplating on how I'll be up at the crack o dawn tomorrow to finish packing, throwing two suits in a suitcase, loading up the 99 frosted, sugar, butter goodness cookies I have packed up in 3 containers and not forgetting my carry on pharmaceutical suitcase filled with drugs the most important items to me this week. And what might those be? Only 75 jump drives, 75 candidate files, 200 scoring sheets, 70 thank you notes, business cards, nametags, and our schedules. Hence, why I'm carrying it on.
And this boys and girls begins the next few days of my life. I'll be joining 4 of my colleagues in the city of cheese steaks at the largest recruitment conference in my field. I'll spend all of Thursday through Sunday interviewing and getting to know candidates and deciding who we will want to bring to campus down the road and potentially offer a job to within the department. I attended this conference last year in Chicago and is how I found my current position. It's a whole different ball game to be sitting on the other side this year and as the co-chair of the recruitment team, I couldn't be more thrilled! No pressure on my mind. Phew.
Sadly, I won't have any time at all for sightseeing and bumming around the city like I did last year in Chicago but I'm still excited about the trip. I'm rooming with a good buddy of mine and look forward to creating a tad bit of mischief with him after hours.
Sidenote: As I'll be traveling and up in Philly all day tomorrow, I won't be able to make it to church to receive ashes for Ash Wednesday. Probably the first time since I can't even remember when that I won't be getting ashes and receiving strange looks from people or friendly warnings that I have something on my forehead. I'll have to be there in spirit.
Oh, yea, and as to what I'm giving up for Lent...soft drinks. Not sure how I'm gonna make it through my afternoons without my tiny tot Coke zero but here goes!
Cheers.
