Memorial Day Weekend Recap

I couldn't imagine a better view for the entire weekend. No literally. Well, maybe a national monument, one of the seven wonders of the world, or even a famous European landscape. But since I couldn't have any of those, this was the site of my paradise for a MUCH NEEDED vacation weekend.

Though the weather was overcast when I woke up Saturday morning, I refused to let it ruin the mood. We set off to Innsbrook around 10am Saturday morning (about an hour west of the city) and since the weather was overcast and we didn't want to hit up the lake, we instead went to the 40th anniversary party the community was hosting! There was a great band playing and everything you've never wanted to eat in one sitting! In the time span that we were there (a couple hours or so), we feasted on corn on the cob, two hot dogs, soft pretzel sticks, cotton candy, popcorn, and beer. Lots and lots of beer. We capped out Saturday with an amazing dinner of chili beef tacos, margaritas, a game night and s'mores. Yep, I ate REALLY well over the weekend.

Because the weather was BRIGHT and SUNNY on Sunday morning when we got up, we were itching to hit the water. A hearty breakfast of eggs, italian sausage, biscuits, homemade blackberry and blueberry jam and coffee hit the spot before we headed off to the lake. The lake at Innsbrook is beautiful and because gas motors aren't allowed in the water, I didn't feel like I was gulping up too many chemicals in the lake. We spent the majority of Sunday and Monday out in the water with rafts tied to the boat (like below). And the floating Bobber cooler we had filled with beer was the cherry on top!

Other than that, we spent our time at the cabin watching movies, eating, sitting around a fire, eating, sleeping, eating, and ummm, eating. All in all, an incredible three-day weekend that I needed more than I even knew. Couldn't be more thankful for having B&J up here in STL and having a sweet getaway. I've made them promise it won't be our only trip out there this summer.

Hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. God Bless our troops!

Cheers!
