Boys are better than Girls.

I'm opening up a can of worms here. I can just feel it. I already anticipate receiving responses from my girl friends who will be reading and coming up with exhaustive lists as to why women are far superior to men. Sometimes, I am tempted to agree as I often struggle to make up excuses and defend my sex. But right now, in this minute, the old adage "guys rule and girls drool" (or my adaptation of it) is appropriate.

Why do women always feel the need to do everything together? I don't get the whole bathroom thing but whatever, I've lived with it. However, I am putting my foot down in the gym. I went to the Ramsey Center tonight to run around the track. I entered Ramsey knowing full well that the beginning of the semester is always the busiest in Ramsey as so many students have new year resolutions to get in shape, lose weight, hit the gym more, etc. By the third of fourth week of classes, the gym has returned to its normal regular crowd as almost all the newbies have given up.

The track in Ramsey has three lanes. One for walking, one for jogging, and one for running. There are signs EVERYWHERE that clearly state if you are walking/running/jogging with another person, you do so behind each other, not side by side taking up multiple lanes and preventing other runners from utilizing the track. Well, for whatever reason, girls feel this incredible need to walk side by side gabbing about NOTHING, oblivious to all the runners who have to make their way around this annoying obstacle. I was certain I was dreaming when I saw a gander of girls walking in unison side by side as if they were marching in a protest around the track preventing ANYONE from getting by. Did they have a reason? Nope. Did they read the signs? Nope. Did they have respect for the other runners on the track (and there were A LOT of us). Nope. Awesome. Thanks ladies. If you want to take a leisurely stroll and talk go outside, go shopping, or go find a couple treadmills. But get off the track. And ladies, before you retort, let me know the next time you see two guys just walking together on the track. You won't.

Cheers.

Well put and great example. I think the bigger picture here is that girls tend to get in the way. I never walk next to Meg, and if we went to the gym together, you better believe I wouldn't be blocking a lane.
