Lightning Bolt!

I have been spending the weekend in a training workshop for launching Sustained Dialogue on campus. It's part of my practicum experience with the Office of Multicultural Services and Programs and despite being cooped up in the Georgia Center for 18.25 hours this weekend (who's counting?), I've had a really good time. It's been great to see the students get energized around an important topic and see their passion being directed toward starting a new group on campus.

During lunch yesterday, we were talking about LARPing (Live Action Role Playing) and I made Michael watch this video to truly understand the uniqueness and energy behind LARPing:

You may not be able to hear it clearly but there is a part in the video where a LARPer yells "LIGHTNING BOLT" several times. I assume that is a weapon in the LARP world and it made me wonder what a world in Student Affairs could/would be like if we all had the power to yell, "LIGHTNING BOLT" whenever we needed an outlet to vent. You might think it sounds crazy but give it a try. Next time a coworker, colleague, or student frustrates you, simply yell "LIGHTNING BOLT." Feel free to give a flick of the wrist, a squint of the eyes, or however else you envision yourself shooting lightning.

Cheers!
