and the Oscar goes to...
I tried my very hardest to stay awake for the entirety of this year's 81st Academy Awards but unfortunately, DC Retreat got the best of me and I was out by 11. The awards carried on past 1130pm Eastern time (and sadly, past the recorded DVR time...FML). Despite missing the last three BIGGEST awards, I thoroughly enjoyed this year's program. Hugh Jackman did a great job as host and the opening skit and broadway act he did with Beyonce were fantastic. I hope he gets another shot at the gig.
So on to the awards....

I gotta hand it to the Academy. I agreed with all of their choices, except for one: Best Supporting Actress. I didn't see Vicky Cristina Barcelona so I cannot vouch for Penelope Cruz's performance. But I can say I was rooting for Viola Davis. She was only in Doubt for .7 seconds and her performance sent chills down my spine. I wish it had gone to her.
Other than that, I was pleased to see Milk, Slumdog Millionaire, and Benjamin Button receive numerous awards. All were great films. If you haven't seen Milk or Slumdog yet, please add them to your Netflix list IMMEDIATELY. Milk really touched me and I wonder what our society would look like today had Harvey Milk lived.
So that's it from me. I look forward to the 82nd annual Academy Awards next February and until then, am ready to go out and see the next batch of films.
Cheers.
