the greatest love story
For months now, my mother has talked about how badly she wanted to see Wall-E. I never had much interest in the film and to date, do not know if my mom has ever watched it. I almost put Wall-E on my Netflix list until my roommate Kat said it was one of her favorite movies of all time and she was buying it. In honor of Valentine's Day last night (and on a sidebar, I must say last night was one of the best V-days I've had in a while!) Kari, Ryan, Kat, Paul, Court, Austin, and myself (can you say 7th wheel???) watched Wall-E. INCREDIBLE! I was skeptical at first considering there is barely any talking and I have this aversion to foreign films. Yes, robotics is a foreign language! But the movie is well-crafted, entertaining, joyful and sad, and in the end, one of the best love stories I've seen on film in a LONG time. I'd put it up there with the Notebook. (And secretly, the Lake House, but I know that now discredits me as a blogger). I am looking forward to see if it wins any Oscars. It definitely deserves it. So if you haven't seen it, go rent it and find 90 minutes to watch the story unfold between Eve and WALLLLLLL-EEEEEEE.Had a great V-day last night. Aside from Wall-E, had a delicious meal. Ribs, steamed broccoli, potatoes, wine, and an amazing dessert: Razzleberry Pie (the razzleberries taste like razzleberries!) After Wall-E, I went to the Globe to meet up with some of the cohort and had a relaxing, fun evening. It was great to be with friends.
Cheers!
