Light at the end of the tunnel
Though March is still 8 days away, I feel like I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. February has been rough. No other way to say it. It's been a non-stop, jam packed, rip-roaring rollercoaster ride of interview weekends, practicum, assistantship, and class work all rolled into one. But March is just around the corner and things are going to slow down...
Here's a few reasons why I am beginning to see the light:
1. My Student Activities class ends Tuesday (hip, hip, hooray!) The class only met 5 times this semester but it's an extra 3 hours I'd like back in my week.
2. I landed an internship for the summer! I'll be SOARing at Gainesville State College working with new student orientation programming! Gainesville State is about an hour away from Athens but it's a great opportunity to work at a predominately two-year institution, in Orientation, and get a different experience from UGA. Still some pay issues to work out but I'm hoping everything gets figured out.
3. My research proposal is well underway for Research Methods and I feel really good about it. I feel like the hardest part is behind me (knock on wood).
4. Kevin and I found an apartment we really love and hope to move into for next fall. We paid our deposit and put our name on the placement list. All we can do is sit back and wait for a phone call about our new apartment and when we can move in (hopefully July 31, 2009 but we're willing to move in a few days before or after if need be).
5. AND FINALLY, DAWG CAMP STAFF RETREAT THIS WEEKEND! We've been working so hard to plan for this weekend when the 42 staff members finally come together to begin preparing for DC09! We're headed to Rock Eagle tomorrow where we will actually hold Dawg Camp this summer. And so, in DC's honor, here's the intro from one my old favorite shows, Bug Juice. (Note: I sing this song regularly these days substituting "Dawg Camp" for "Bug Juice."...They're essentially the same thing...)
