It's good to be home.
I arrived into New Orleans last night after a short 30 minute flight delay and a relatively painless journey from Athens to New Orleans. However, I did have an interesting character sitting next to me. The kind of guy who marches to the beat of his own drum. He was pretty loud and expressive in the airport while everyone else rolled their eyes or kept their noses buried in their books to avoid him. Well, as fate would have it, his seat happened to be next to mine. His napping consisted of putting his hands behind his head and extending his elbows giving me a front row seat to his arm pits. He also enjoyed singing and felt the airplane was as good a place as any to hum and sing. I didn't know the tune and I'm not quite sure he did either. Needless to say, I was ready to de-board.
I met up with Brian and Katie last night and went out for drinks. We first went to a bar Katie had wanted to check out for some time. There wasn't much to it to write home about but I did get to experience the new NOLA beer. Apparently, there's a new brewery in town brewing NOLA Blonde and Brown Ales. We got a pitcher of the Brown Ale. Not as good as I had hoped. A bit watery and definitely missing some hops. Disappointing but perhaps they will continue to improve upon the brewing. We went to the Columns to wrap up the evening and if you're looking for a true New Orleans drinking establishment, the Columns Hotel on St. Charles Avenue is the way to go. Surprisingly, I had never been before but am glad we went to sit out on the porch and enjoy some Abita.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Cheers.
