Movie News

How can you look at this photo and not get excited? Tim Burton is a genius. Due out in March of 2010, his remake of Alice in Wonderland will most likely be as entertaining and as visually exciting as 2005's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or 2003's Big Fish (one of my favorites). The movie features not only Johnny Depp as the "Mad Hatter" (their seventh project together) but also Anne Hathaway as the "White Queen" and Helena Bonham Carter as the "Red Queen." Carter, Burton's real life partner, has appeared in several of his movies and has co-starred with Depp in Sweeney Todd (another great twisted film).

Though the Disney version was not my favorite, I'm looking forward to this film coming out. Check out the article here. And for some more photos including Anne Hathaway as the "White Queen" and Helena Bonham Carter as the "Red Queen," check this out.

In other movie news, I know everyone's been talking about the big releases this summer (Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter) but none of those excite me as much (though Transformers does come close) as the release of The Time Traveler's Wife due out August 14. Based on Audrey Niffenegger's book of the same name, the film stars Rachel McAdams (one of my all time favorite actresses) as "Claire" and Eric Bana as "Henry." Though the film will most likely be tagged as a romantic drama, those of you snubbing your noises at a romantic drama need to rethink your stance. I was absorbed by this book, the characters, and the story line and cannot wait for the film to come out. I watched the preview and it appears the movie will follow the book pretty closely. With a due date still two months away, there's plenty of time to go out and read the book this summer. I'll even make it easy for you. You can order it here (for under $10).

omg I just started tearing up at work. THANKS BRAD! But seriously, I can't wait. Brian has showed me where they "lived" in chicago (nerd alert). I think I'll have about 4 days post-classes pre-premiere when I can reread the book. The preview is just like I imagined it! Must shut up now.
