Burt.

I have an unhealthy obsession with my chapstick. Burt's Beeze truly is my wing man and sidekick. Burt travels with me everywhere. Whether I'm hitting the streets for a run or a night out on the town, dressed in jeans or a suit, Burt is always in my pocket. I love unwrapping a new one and using it for the first time and feel a sense of loss when I forget him at home.

I didn't realize how dependent upon Burt I was until I couldn't find him recently. It's happened before. He's rolled out of my pocket into some dark abyss never to be seen again. I've even washed him once or twice and sadly, also sent him through the dryer (NOTE: while the washer machine won't ruin him, the dryer will not only destroy him but most likely leave wax residue spots all over your dark clothes. It was a sad day for that load of laundry...) So the other day I was gearing up for a day of studying and couldn't find him. I searched my jeans from the day before but no such luck. I looked high and low before finally succumbing to the fact that Burt was gone. I had to settle for some strawberry flavored Chap Stick and let me tell you, it doesn't hold a candle to Burt.

I left the house defeated but when I got into my car, I heard something rolling around in the car door. I reached down and to my surprise, BURT WAS THERE! I was so excited that I realized I bordered on pathetic. Perhaps 2010 will be the year of simple pleasures. Who knows...All I know is I don't function as well without Burt.

Cheers.
