Hello 2010.

It seems so futuristic to say "Twenty-Ten." I'm still waiting for the year when I walk into Banana Republic and a censor scans my eyes without my knowing and some cyber sales associate says, "Welcome, Brad." It hasn't happened yet but Minority Report gave me hope we may one day see such a thing. Perhaps even in my lifetime...

As with the start of any new year, to have or not to have a resolution is the question...I found out today at Two Story that the most common new year's resolution is to spend more time with family and friends. I imagined it would be to lose weight, eat healthy, or be more active. I don't know Two Story's source and didn't have the energy to ask so we'll just go with it.

I cannot remember if I had a resolution for 09. For one year recently, I decided that rather than do a year long resolution, I'd do a monthly one and pick a new one each month. The thought process being you can doing anything for a month but a whole year? The Today Show said only about 30% of the population actually stick to their resolutions. That number may even be an exaggeration. (I have trouble these days trying to remember things that are not COMPS related...)

I haven't fully decided what's in store for 2010 but I know some things I'm going to try and do...
1. Budget! I kept a running spreadsheet my first year in grad school of how much money I was spending and didn't pick it back up in the fall. I'm going to revisit it once COMPS ends.
2. Attempt to stop biting/picking my nails.
3. Sleep for no more than 8 hours per night. It's excessive, unbecoming, and makes you feel more tired.

So that's it for now. I've already failed on all three but I'm chalking it up to having this huge exam hovering over my head. I'll really start working on them come Saturday.

Cheers.
