In the news...
This week has been sprinkled with news stories that have me all hot and bothered. And not in a good way. What has me agitated, my heart hurting, and my head raging?
Boy Scouts of America reaffirming their ban on gays. The ONLY purpose this serves is to show young men that being gay means you're less than. And that you cannot. Personally, I was a Cub Scout, my mother our den leader and though I opted not to follow on to Boy and Eagle Scout land, it was a great experience. My sexual orientation never mattered. And why should it?
Chick-Fil-A President comes out claiming the company's anti-gay stance is legit. I had already known this and thus, given up eating their food several months ago. But it still saddens me. What if he came out and said he hates black people? Jews? Muslims? Women? To me, it's the same thing.
The recent shooting in Colorado during the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises. It's more than a tragedy but what do you call something so horrific and senseless when there are no words? I was on Facebook this morning and a guy I've known since elementary school posted a photo of Heath Ledger as the Joker with the tagline, "We shoot the audience." ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? I immediately reported the post. How incredibly disgusting. This country needs better gun laws.
No good, folks. No good.
