Summer 2012..One for the books!

With today marking the last day in July, I'm officially wrapping up the summer of 2012. Preposterous you say? What about August? Well, in my line of work, August isn't really summer anymore. It's GO TIME. And with some student staff already back and the rest returning at the end of this week, my summer (for all intensive purposes) is over.

And looking back, I have to say that Summer 2012 has been one of the best in a long time. And I say this with the caveat that I only made it to the pool about half a dozen times as opposed to previous summers where I was there at least 3 times a week. And this summer STILL kicked arse.

A quick rundown of the highlights from Summer 2k12:

• The McDutton Bachelor/ette Memorial Day Weekend Lake Extravaganza
• Memphis at the Fox and Chicago at the Muny
• Farewell to friends departing the great STL with many cookouts and sunsets
• Memphis for the wedding of a good friend and the WHODS reunion
• Lake Tahoe for LeaderShape! 
• PRIDE does St. Louis
• The Door Headboard Project
• Starting and finishing the INSANITY program (still need to blog about this...)
• Countless hours at Royale, Urban Chestnut, and Field House
• Friends visiting like T.W. and Mary Lou
• Wednesday DC crew
• The solidifying of some relationships and the formation of new ones
• Events like a Cardinals game, WigStomp, Maifest, Naked Bike Ride, and the Budweiser Made in STL Party

Despite temperatures hovering above 100 degrees for SEVERAL weeks, not sure I'd trade this summer for another one. Though a slightly cooler one is tempting...

I'm looking forward to fall and seeing what the rest of 2012 has in store. With the McDutton wedding in September in PA, a trip home to NOLA, the Warrior Dash at the end of September, ATL PRIDE in October, and a conference in Wisconsin in November, the fall is shaping out to be epic as well.
