Hodge Podge.

I'm disappointed in myself. Well, I haven't officially decided that yet but I think I may be. For my theory class tomorrow, 7 of us were given the task of finding a song that identifies with the particular vector (Chickering and Reisser term) we picked out of a hat. I chose "Developing Competence," the first vector, defined as a student's ability to develop competency in three areas: intellectual, physical or manual, and interpersonal. I'm a sucker for songs and for finding deeper meaning in songs and after participating and working several TEC retreats, thought this was right up my alley.

After wracking my brain for a long time and scavenging through my iPod, I settled on "Go the Distance" from the Disney movie Hercules. I thought it was the perfect song and was all set on it until tonight when I listened to the song again and am now thinking it might be a better fit for a different vector, "Establishing Identity." Either way, I'm now stuck with the song. I'm committed to it and have to talk about it in class tomorrow but I'm annoyed that this wasn't a grand slam. Feels more like a bunt. I can use the song and find meaning in it but it's not a home run. Not by far....

Found out that another one of my cohort members, Daphne, has a blog of her own. I call her Daphever due to her email address and she's pretty special (bless her heart) but I like the heading of her blog and she has a blog entry with a run down of everyone in our cohort in her most recent post. So I recommend checking her out, if for no other reason than to see who one of my new friends is here. She's uh-mazing.

Had a great night tonight after a LONG day! Went to spin class again this morning for the second Tuesday in a row and really enjoyed it. Had class all day and then spent the evening doing a GROUPS project with Sam, Bonnie, and Caleb which consisted of a cooking challenge and Apples to Apples with Team Doe: Christy, Cloud, Daphever, and Kevin.

Two other big updates to report on:

1. Alpha Delta Beta is in the colonization stage and has the potential to become a great fraternity. More to come down the road.

2. My car is ready for pick up! I've never been so excited to see Yota. I pick her up tomorrow and drop off the recently-sold Enterprise Sentra. For those of you considering a Sentra, don't. It's not a fun car to drive and the gas mileage is surprisingly pretty bad.

Wow. Long post. I'm beat. Goodnight!
