Babysitters.

You ever have those moments when you feel like so much is going on and you have so much to say that you just don't know where to start? I could take this entry in any number of crazy directions. I'm going to give a shout out to Steve because he asked me for my blog address today and perhaps he is reading. Steve is quite possibly one of the funniest people I have met in a long time and without fail, the guy makes me laugh hysterically on a daily basis. I cannot imagine life in the CLS without his presence. So thanks Steve...(insert awww moment here.)

So I received a phone call about a week and a half ago from Melody. That name means probably nothing to everyone but my family. Melody was our babysitter/housekeeper for the better part of my younger years. When my mom was working full time at Hibernia Bank, Melody was hired to watch over us. I have the fondest memories of her taking us to Rally's and running around the parking lot throwing milkshakes on each other, popping the bubbles she made from chewing bubblegum, and feeding her black jelly beans--her least favorite flavor of them all. I haven't seen her in probably close to 10 years and haven't spoke to her in probably 5 or so. And yet, out of the blue, she called me last week to say hello! We talked last night for a bit and it's CRAZY to wrap my mind around speaking to someone who played such an instrumental role on my life who left my life so many years ago.

While Melody conjurs up good feelings, I cannot say the same for Ms. Marse. (I get chills thinking of the name). Ms. Marse (who in cartoon form would look like this) was this nutty woman who had no teeth. I swear my mom found her hitching a ride on the side of the road and thought she looked nice enough to watch over her three darling children. Ms. Marse rode her bike around town and didn't have A/C in her home so when she came over, she plumped down in my dad's recliner and soaked up the cool air. My brother would cry hysterically when my parents left us in her presence yet they continued to do so. I shudder thinking about her to this day. I still don't fully know why my mom hired her. Maybe she offered a great rate. In any case, the woman was scary and I'm glad my siblings lived to tell about it.

I guess I'll stop there. A quick shout out to Google video. I am really enjoying g-video over g-chat.

Cheers.
