Mother May I?
I have only recently discovered the Media that Matters Film Festival. While I haven't had an opportunity to watch every video, so many of them are incredibly thought provoking and warrant discussion. With the upcoming election only four weeks away, one of the issues I have been trying to follow is gay marriage and where both parties view the topic. I was very interested in hearing the responses of both Palin and Biden during the VP election last week and I won't go on my soap box but I think a VERY interesting question is raised about the difference between gay marriage and gay unions, the rights associated with marriage and unions and constitutionally, how discrimination is being played out on a daily basis.
But back to Media that Matters. During the 6th annual festival two years ago, a Public Service Announcement titled, Permission, debuted and won the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Rights Award. The video, though brief, sends a powerful message worth engaging in some deliberate dialogue about the issue.
