Birthday!

Happy Birthday to me! Hard to believe I am 26 years old today! Good lord. It's so much closer to 30. I feel like 30 is that magical age where people really begin to expect a lot from you. We spoke about this in class today but it's true. By the time you're 30, the expectation is set that you will be well on your way to establishing your career, own a home, be settled with someone, perhaps have popped out a baby (or two), and have financial portfolio that leaves you well invested with many stock options, a 401k and enough change in the bank to take a vacation or two. At this rate, I still have a LONG way to go but hey, today is about birthdays. Not lack of financial planning.

The day started off with the cohort (whom I have known for less than two weeks) making a delicious breakfast for the class to share. Potatoe casserole, homemade blueberry and cinnamon bread, and the best freaking sausage/cream cheese croissants I have ever put in my mouth. In a fight between them and Sister Schubert rolls, the croissants win. Hands down. In a word: EPIC.

Have an event tonight so the day hasn't been all fun but should be a good time tonight. The cohort is going to the Globe for drinks and since today is the end of the academic week, everyone should be able to enjoy themselves (responsibly grandma and grandpa and mom and dad).

Thank you for all the birthday texts, calls, shout outs on facebook, and emails. Definitely makes the day more special.

And to close, thought it would be worthwhile to check out who else has a birthday on August 27. Interestingly, Mother Teresa was born in 1910 and Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee CREEPY Herman) was born in 1952. I bet you never thought you'd see those two names together in the same sentence eh? Personally, I'd much rather align myself with Mother T than Pee-Wee. I always liked Cowboy Curtis and Penny more than him anyway.
