Who?
Went to Mellow Mushroom last night with my BDB (Bull Dawg Buddy). I think I wrote about this before but essentially, it's like a big brother/big sister in a fraternity or sorority minus the hazing and ritual. While in mid conversation with the BDB, he stops talking and stares at these three guys who walk past our table. Since Jeff bats for the other team, I didn't really think much of it other than Jeff noticing some good looking guys. He turns to me and says, "DO YOU KNOW WHO THAT WAS?" I glanced around the booth and said, "Nope."
"That was Matt Stafford." At this point, I wrack my brain trying to figure out if I know anyone named Matt Stafford. Celebrity-nope. Reality star-don't think so. Band member-nope. Comedian-nope. Cohort member-nope. So I let him know I have no idea who Matt Stafford is or why it is a big deal that this Matt kid is eating a few booths away from us.
Matt Stafford is apparently the UGA football quarterback. After hearing this revelation about the man behind the name, I still shrugged and continued eating my pizza. Jeff said I haven't yet caught the UGA football spirit. I guess that's possible. Although, I've never really been a die hard sports nut so even if Matt had come over, said hello, and shaken my hand, I'd still come home and wash it right after. The guy plays football. My brother played soccer. My dad plays tennis. Good for them.
Maybe one day I'll understand the significance of it all. Maybe not. But I have two weeks to get psyched about UGA football because come August 30th, Athens becomes a whole new place. One I'm slightly afraid of.
